Aadhaar Authentication History: How to Access and Understand It

Aadhaar Authentication History: Overview and Procedure

What is Aadhaar Authentication History?

Aadhaar Authentication History is a service provided on the UIDAI website, offering residents a record of their past authentication activities.

Steps to Check Aadhaar Authentication History

To access the Aadhaar Authentication history, residents must:

  1. Visit the UIDAI website.
  2. Enter their Aadhaar Number or VID.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: A registered mobile number is required to use this service.

Information Available in Aadhaar Authentication History

The Aadhaar Authentication history provides the following details for each authentication record:

  • Auth Modality
  • Date and Time of Authentication
  • UIDAI Response Code
  • AUA Name
  • AUA Transaction ID (with code)
  • Authentication Response (success or failure)
  • UIDAI Error Code

Viewing More Than 50 Authentication Records

While residents can view a maximum of 50 authentication records at one time, they can access all authentication records performed by any Authentication User Agency (AUA) over the past six months.

Handling Failed Authentication Transactions

If any authentication transactions appear as failed, each is assigned a specific error code. Residents should check the error code details for insights into the failure reasons.

Addressing Unperformed Transactions

If a resident notices transactions in their record that they did not carry out, it is advisable to contact the respective Authentication User Agency (AUA) for assistance.

Understanding UIDAI Response Codes

Each authentication transaction generates a unique UIDAI Response Code that identifies the transaction. This code is crucial for any follow-up queries directed to the AUA.

What is AUA Transaction ID?

Similar to the UIDAI Response Code, the Authentication User Agency (AUA) provides a unique Transaction ID for each authentication request. Both the Response Code and Transaction ID are useful for any inquiries made by the Aadhaar number holder.

Auth Modality Explained

UIDAI offers various authentication modalities including demographic data, biometric data (fingerprints or iris), or One Time Password (OTP). Auth Modality indicates the method used for each specific authentication transaction.

UIDAI Services Explained

Residents can utilize the following UIDAI services for Aadhaar authentication:

  1. Verify Aadhaar Number: Ensures validity and active status of the Aadhaar number.
  2. Verify Email/Mobile Number: Confirms the Aadhaar number validity and activation.
  3. Lock/Unlock Biometrics: Allows users to secure their biometric information by locking it for authentication purposes. Biometric data can be unlocked as needed.
  4. Check Aadhaar & Bank Account Linking Status: Provides information on whether the Aadhaar is linked to the bank account. As per the Supreme Court's judgment dated 26.09.2018, linking is optional.
  5. Aadhaar Authentication History: Access to validation records of past Aadhaar authentications.
  6. Virtual ID Generator: Enables Aadhaar number holders to create a 16-digit Virtual ID (VID).

Error Codes and Their Meanings

The following are some of the error codes defined by UIDAI along with their descriptions:

  • 100: Personal information demographic data mismatch.
  • 200: Address demographic data mismatch.
  • 300: Biometric data mismatch.
  • 400: Invalid OTP value.
  • 500: Invalid session key encryption.
