Progress and Financial Overview of Key Industrial Corridors in India

Status of Key Industrial Corridors

The progress of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC), Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (BMIC), and Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC) is outlined below:

1. Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC)

Three key nodes have been identified for development under the CBIC:

  • Krishnapatnam Node (Andhra Pradesh):

    • Approved by the Government of India on December 30, 2020.
    • Detailed master planning and preliminary engineering for an area of 2,500 acres have been completed.
    • The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) tendering process for trunk infrastructure has commenced.
  • Tumakuru Node (Karnataka):

    • Also approved by the Government of India on December 30, 2020.
    • Master planning and preliminary engineering for an area of 1,736 acres has been finalized, with Environmental Clearance obtained.
    • EPC tendering for trunk infrastructure is in progress.
  • Ponneri Node (Tamil Nadu):

    • A consultant has been appointed to conduct detailed master planning and preliminary engineering for an area of 4,000 acres.

2. Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (BMIC)

The Perspective Plan for BMIC has been finalized. Both the Government of Karnataka and the Government of Maharashtra have confirmed the availability of land for the development of industrial nodes in Dharwad and Satara, respectively. Consultants have been engaged for detailed master planning and preliminary engineering for these locations.

3. Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC)

The Orvakal Node in Andhra Pradesh has been earmarked for development under HBIC. Consultants are tasked with detailed master planning and preliminary engineering. Key activities, including site surveys, base map preparation, technical assessments, land suitability evaluations, and the preliminary master plan, have been completed by the consultant.

Overall, these industrial corridors are at varying stages of implementation. Currently, land is available for two nodes in the CBIC—Krishnapatnam and Tumakuru—which are both scheduled for development by 2026. For the other corridors and nodes, development timelines will be determined based on land availability and project approvals.
