New Metals Ores Testing Facility

The inauguration of a state-of-the-art metals ores testing laboratory at the Central Revenues Control Laboratory (CRCL), New Delhi, marks a substantial boost in testing capabilities. This facility aligns with World Customs Organization (WCO) guidelines, thus advancing CRCL’s operational standards.

Successful Anti-Smuggling Operation

A recent operation led by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Kolkata Zonal Unit successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt involving Betel Nuts. Based on actionable intelligence, officers monitored two containers at Kolkata Port that were inaccurately declared as Raw Cashew Nuts. After thorough investigation, it was discovered that these containers concealed 200.76 MT of Betel Nuts, valued at approximately ₹10.52 crore.
