Recent HR Conference Highlights at CBIC
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) recently held a pivotal HR conference at the NACIN Palasamudram campus. This event brought together senior officers to explore essential HR management topics, including cadre management, capacity building, vigilance administration, and infrastructure development. Such conferences are crucial for identifying challenges and developing practical solutions that contribute to organizational growth.
Acknowledgments and Publications
During the conference, outstanding contributions were recognized with Swachhta Awards presented to various Zones, Directorates, Commissionerates, and Zonal Units for their exemplary Swachhta Projects. Additionally, two significant publications were introduced: the ‘5th Edition of Swachhta Uday’ and ‘Flora of Palasamudram.’ Special commendation goes to the Directorate General of Human Resource Management (DGHRM) and NACIN for their efforts in organizing this event.
Trade Facilitation Developments
In a significant advancement toward trade facilitation, CBIC formalized the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Federal Customs Service of Russia. This agreement serves as a substantial enhancement for Indian importers and exporters, marking the seventh MRA signed by Indian Customs. Ongoing negotiations are actively pursued with various other Customs administrations to further expand this initiative.
Anti-Evasion Efforts
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Kolkata Zonal Unit demonstrated its commitment to curbing financial crimes through a recent anti-evasion operation. The DRI intercepted a Trade-based Money Laundering case involving the illegal transfer of foreign exchange. Officers uncovered a syndicate importing Electric Supply Conductor Devices at excessively inflated prices through newly established foreign firms, which undermined Customs duties. The operation resulted in the seizure of goods valued at Rs. 122.21 Crores, along with the arrest of a middleman involved in the scheme.
Celebrating CBIC's Sporting Achievements
The conference also celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of CBIC members in sports. Shri Yogesh Kathunia from the Delhi CGST Zone earned a Silver Medal at the Para Athletics World Championship 2024, held in Kobe, Japan, showcasing his exceptional talent. Congratulations to Yogesh for this commendable achievement!
Additionally, CBIC's esteemed athlete, Ms. Abha Khatua, captured a Gold medal in the women’s Shot Put event during the 27th National Federation Senior Athletics Competition in Bhubaneswar. Her impressive throw of 18.41 meters not only secured her position but also established a new National Record, surpassing the previous record of 18.06 meters.
Conclusion
The HR conference at the CBIC served as a platform to foster discussions on critical HR management strategies, recognize outstanding efforts in cleanliness initiatives, and celebrate significant advancements in trade facilitation and anti-evasion activities.
