Extended Submission Deadline for CPE Hours Self Declaration Form 2024
ICAI Grants Final Window for CAs to File 2024 CPE Self-Declarations – No Further Extensions Beyond May 31, 2025
In a move that brings both relief and a final reminder to members of the chartered accountancy fraternity, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has extended the last date for submitting the Self Declaration Form for unstructured CPE hours relating to the 2024 calendar year. Chartered accountants now have time until May 31, 2025, to complete the process—but ICAI has clarified there will be no further extensions beyond this.
What Prompted the Extension?
The change in timeline stems from a transition in policy under ICAI’s updated Statement on Continuing Professional Education (CPE), 2023, which came into effect from January 1, 2024. Under this revamped framework, the annual deadline for submitting the Self Declaration Form for Unstructured Learning Activities (ULA) was advanced from May 31 to December 31.
Despite ICAI’s repeated announcements through journals, emails, and website updates, a considerable number of members did not take timely action. Many mistakenly assumed the old deadline of May 31, 2025, continued to apply and failed to upload their CPE hours—even though they had completed the learning by the permissible date of February 28, 2025.
Who Can Still Submit?
This window is only for those members who:
- Completed their unstructured CPE hours for the 2024 calendar year on or before February 28, 2025, and
- Have not yet submitted the corresponding Self Declaration on the CPE Portal.
Final Deadline – No Exceptions After May 31, 2025
Members falling under this category must now ensure they upload their self-declaration by May 31, 2025. ICAI has made it unequivocally clear that this is the final cut-off and that no extensions will be considered under any circumstances.

|---|---|---|
| Complete Unstructured CPE Hours | By Feb 28, 2025 | Only for 2024 CPE activities |
| Submit Self-Declaration | By May 31, 2025 | Final opportunity, no more extensions |
| Future Years (2025 onwards) | By Dec 31 annually | As per the CPE Statement, 2023 |
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
Members who fail to comply by May 31, 2025, will face the consequences outlined under ICAI’s compliance framework, including:
- Escalated Compliance Status: Gradual movement through ICAI’s levels of non-compliance.
- Public Disclosure: Non-compliant status will be visible on the CPE Portal.
- Professional Impacts: Ineligibility for empanelment, peer reviews, and risk of facing disciplinary action for prolonged lapses.
Going Forward – December 31 Becomes the New Norm
Starting with the 2025 calendar year, all members are required to submit their self-declarations by December 31 of the same year, as per the CPE Statement (2023). ICAI is unlikely to consider operational delays or oversight as grounds for relaxation in future periods.

It’s best to act now, avoid the year-end rush, and remain on the right side of compliance
