Ad-Hoc Appointments of Joint Commissioners of Income Tax Announced
Appointment of Officers to the Grade of Joint Commissioner of Income Tax
The ad-hoc appointment of the following Indian Revenue Service officers has been granted by the President to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (JCIT) Level-12 in the pay scale of Rs. 78,800-2,09,200 from January 1, 2022, or from the date of joining the post of JCIT, whichever is later. These appointments shall be in temporary terms until December 31, 2022, or until appointments are being made in normal tenures, whichever is earlier. Notably, these promotions are being made in-situ so that the officers remain with their present positions and responsibilities until further orders.
Terms of Ad-Hoc Appointments
These ad-hoc appointments are being made on the following terms:

They do not accord any rights to the officers with regard to continuous service, seniority, or normal promotions, as prescribed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOP&T) in OM N, and subsequent government orders.

The appointments shall not confer any entitlements or equity on the appointees.
Additional Directives

Officials already employed in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) or Department of Revenue (DoR) as Under Secretaries or DCIT (OSD) shall retain their current designation as JCIT (OSD) and perform their respective duties until further instructions. Salary and allowances of these officials shall be settled by the Principal CCIT (CCA) in Delhi.

For officers outside the Cadre on duty for any reason, including on leave, their appointments will be effective from the date on which they take charge of the JCIT post within the Cadre.

All Principal Chief Commissioners of Income Tax (Pr. CCsIT) and Principal Directors General of Income Tax (Pr. DGsIT) shall submit compliance reports in respect of this directive within 15 days.

Where any officer wishes not to accept the appointment, their representation can be placed before the Board for the consideration of the Appointing Authority.
