When the status of your emBridge Utility changes to “Stopped,” it can hinder your ability to sign forms online through the Income Tax Portal. This guide outlines the reasons for this status change and provides steps to resolve the issue.

Reasons for Change in Status

The “Stopped” status of emBridge Utility may arise due to several factors:

  • System Restart: Sometimes, a restart may inadvertently affect the emBridge Utility's functionality.
  • Windows Update: An automatic update could disrupt the operation of the utility.
  • Change in Login Profile: Alterations in user profiles may result in disruptions.

Resolving the Stopped Status

To change the status of emBridge Utility from “Stopped” to “Running,” follow one of the methods below:

Method 1: Reinstall emBridge Utility

  1. Uninstall the current version of emBridge Utility from your system.
  2. Download and reinstall the emBridge Utility.
  3. During installation, if prompted, opt to update the utility.

Method 2: Change Status via System Application

  1. Open the Run menu or Start Menu and type “Services” to access the Services application.
  2. In the Services window, locate the emBridge application.
  3. If the startup type is not set to Automatic, right-click on the emBridge Utility, select Properties, and change the startup type to Automatic.
  4. Right-click on the emBridge Utility again and select the “Start” option.

By following these steps, the status of the emBridge Utility will switch from “Stopped” to “Running,” enabling you to sign your forms online on the Income Tax Portal without any issues.
