Debit Card Payments

Taxpayers with a debit card issued by an Authorized Bank that supports tax payments can also use this method, without incurring transaction fees.

Payment at Bank Counter

Individuals and companies ineligible under Section 44AB, as per Notification 34/2008 by the CBDT, cannot utilize this payment option. However, other taxpayers may pay taxes at the counters of Authorized Banks.

To complete this payment:

  • Present a signed Challan Form along with the payment instrument at a branch of the selected Authorized Bank.
  • Be aware that cash payments exceeding Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) are prohibited.

Authorized Banks for Counter Payments

This payment method is valid only at the branches of Authorized Banks. For transactions through other banks, please use the NEFT/RTGS option. A signed Challan Form with CRN, generated from the e-Filing portal, is required.

RTGS Payments

Tax payments can also be executed via RTGS through any bank that provides RTGS/NEFT services.

Steps to Initiate RTGS Payment

  1. Generate the Challan Form along with the necessary documentation.
  2. Print the documents and present them on the bank's website or at a branch.

Note that online RTGS/NEFT transactions are free of charge according to RBI guidelines. For offline transactions, charges typically range from ₹24.50 to ₹49.50 + GST depending on the bank and the transaction amount.

Payment Gateway Options

This payment mode allows taxpayers to choose from multiple options such as Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, and UPI. After selection, you will be redirected to the payment gateway’s dedicated page showcasing available options. Please be informed that any applicable transaction charges will be added to the tax amount for this method.
