Proper e-verification of income tax returns is crucial for compliance. Below are the various procedures by which taxpayers can e-verify their returns:
A. E-Verification Via Aadhaar OTP
- Access the Income Tax e-filing portal.
- Proceed to "e-File" > "Income Tax Returns" > "e-Verify Return."
- Select "Aadhaar OTP" as your verification option.
- Enter the OTP received on your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar (15 minutes validity).
- Submit to get the e-verification confirmation.
B. E-Verification using Net Banking
- Log on to the net banking website of your bank.
- Choose "e-File with Income Tax Department."
- You will be taken to the e-filing website.
- Select the pending Income Tax Return (ITR) and opt for e-verification.
C. E-Verification using Pre-validated Bank/Demat Account
- Pre-validate your demat account or bank account in the e-filing portal.
- Choose the correct process to create Electronic Verification Code (EVC).
- Place the EVC in the portal to finalize the verification.
D. E-Verification through Bank ATM
- Approach a participant bank's ATM and swipe your ATM card.
- Select the option "Generate EVC for Income Tax Filing."
- Utilize the EVC obtained on your mobile to verify your return on the e-filing portal.
E. E-Verification Using Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
- Utilize your Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) while filing the return.
- Follow the on-screen steps to carry out the verification process.
F. E-Verification Without Login (Pre-login Method)
- On the portal's homepage, click "e-Verify Return" under Quick Links.
- Provide your PAN, assessment year, acknowledgment number, and mobile number.
- Enter the OTP received and verify.
