Commemorative Coin Rules for New Parliament Building Inauguration

Introduction

On May 25, 2023, the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, released a notification introducing the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Inauguration of New Parliament Building) Rules, 2023.

  • Obverse Side: Features the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked by “भारत” (in Devnagari) on the left and “INDIA” on the right, along with the Rupee symbol “₹” and denomination “75.”

  • Reverse Side: Depicts the Parliament Complex with “संसद संकुल” (in Devnagari) inscribed at the top and “PARLIAMENT COMPLEX” at the bottom, featuring the year “2023” below the image.

5. Standard Weight and Composition Variations

  • Standard Weight: 35 grams
  • Permitted Deviations:
    • Silver Content Variation: ±1/500th (Silver content can range from 498 to 502 parts per 1000).
    • Weight Variation: ±1/100th (Weight can vary between 34.65 grams and 35.35 grams).

G.S.R. 389(E). In accordance with the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government has established the following rules:
